The new, independent, world-class research center, Kyiv Economics Institute (KEI) was created by the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) in the interest of bringing back the best and the brightest to support the positive developments in Ukraine. KEI creation has been made possible thanks to a seminal grant from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). KEI aims to make a unique contribution by producing homegrown, topquality research and policy analysis.

KEI has attracted a core faculty of talented young Ukrainian economists who are returning to help build the institute as part of the foundation of Ukraine’s emerging economy, working on efficiency and productivity analysis, sequencing of reforms, labor economics, economic demography, and economics of aging.
